Dr. Jacob Sherwood, Pacific West District Superintendent, is pleased to announce the selection of Alicia Stephens as Assistant Principal for Humphreys Central Elementary School located at Camp Humphreys, South Korea.

Ms. Alicia Stephens has been in the field of education for over 20 years. During this time, she has served as an educator in elementary, middle, and high school environments. Since joining DoDEA Europe in 2006, Ms. Stephens has taught in various locations including Japan, Korea, Turkey, Fort Campbell, and Laurel Bay. She has held numerous leadership positions such as Teacher Leader, Mentor, AVID Coordinator, Case Study Committee Chair, and Continuous Improvement Chair. Additionally, Ms. Stephens served with allied forces in Afghanistan as a staff developer and ESOL teacher, where she received the War on Terror and NATO International Security Force Assistance medals.

Prior to being assigned as the assistant principal of Humphreys Central Elementary School, Ms. Stephens served as the assistant principal at Humphreys Middle School and the Interim Assistant Principal at Humphreys High School.

Ms. Stephens holds a Bachelor of Science in Sociology/Psychology from Francis Marion University and a Master of Arts in Education from Cambridge College.

Ms. Stephens believes student success is achieved through strong school-home partnerships that nurture the whole student while simultaneously providing a rigorous curriculum and social support to encourage students to be life-long learners who persevere through problem solving.

As a graduate of Daegu American School, Ms. Stephens is proud to continue to work in the same district in which she graduated high school. Her global experience brings a wealth of knowledge to Humphreys Central Elementary School.
