HCES Teacher Leads All-Korea Elementary Choir

CAMP HUMPHREYS, SOUTH KOREA – Ms. Jacqueline Larry of Humphreys Central Elementary School (HCES) conducted an All-Korea Elementary Choir on Saturday, March 15, 2025.
Ms. Larry brought six of her students from HCES to participate in the Korea International Music Education Association (KIMEA) Elementary Choir Festival held at Seoul Foreign School. The students were chosen to participate in the choir because of their advanced musicianship and interest in performing music.
Approximately 120 students representing six elementary schools around Korea performed five songs together. Each song was conducted by a different music teacher, and Ms. Larry conducted “A Canon of Hope” by Mark Burrows.
Mrs. Emily Hatch from Daegu Elementary School (DES) was also at the festival as the Elementary Division chair on the KIMEA board. Mrs. Hatch has served on the KIMEA board since 2018.
Ms. Larry and Mrs. Hatch were also able to collaborate with elementary music colleagues from international schools around Korea, sharing best practices for teaching and rehearsing choir and learning from the modeling of others.
