Humphreys Central Elementary families celebrate Winter Wonderland

CAMP HUMPHREYS – Humphreys Central Elementary School recently hosted its much-anticipated annual Winter Wonderland event, delighting families and students with a plethora of festive activities and heartwarming holiday spirit. This celebrated event, which has become a cherished tradition within the school community, was an enchanting evening filled with joy, creativity, and camaraderie.
One of the highlights of the Winter Wonderland event was the spectacular STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) project that featured hundreds of gingerbread houses meticulously crafted by the students. The gingerbread houses, each adorned with colorful candies, icing, and intricate designs, showcased the students' creativity and engineering skills. The display was not only a visual feast but also an educational experience, as students applied principles of architecture, design, and teamwork to construct their miniature edible masterpieces.
The festive atmosphere was further enhanced by enchanting music performances of beloved holiday songs, led by the music department. Parents and guests were treated to classic carols and cultural holiday tunes, creating an ambiance of warmth and togetherness.
“Our students worked so hard to prepare an amazing show for the HCES community, and the effort was worth it to see the joy on the faces of the students, their families, and their teachers,” said music teacher Jacqueline Larry.
The Winter Wonderland event was packed with engaging activities that captivated the young attendees. One of the most popular stations was the "Letters to Santa" area, where children could write and send their heartfelt wishes to Santa Claus. Another favorite was the snowflake-making activity, where students crafted delicate paper snowflakes, each unique and beautifully intricate. These activities not only entertained the children but also encouraged creativity and self-expression.
No holiday event would be complete without delicious treats, and the Winter Wonderland did not disappoint. Families enjoyed decorating cookies with an array of colorful sprinkles, frosting, and edible decorations. The cookie decorating station was a hive of activity, with children eagerly crafting their sweet creations. To complement the sweet treats, hot cocoa was served, providing a warm and comforting beverage on the chilly evening.
Adding to the merriment, the PTSO Holiday Shop offered a delightful shopping experience for both parents and children. The shop featured a variety of holiday-themed items, perfect for gift-giving and spreading joy. Further musical entertainment was also provided by a string ensemble featuring Humphreys High School students.
“I’m glad for this opportunity for the community to come together through music,” music teacher Yeojin Choi said.
Students were thrilled to experience a visit from Santa Claus himself. Santa took the time to pose for family photos, creating magical moments that will be cherished for years to come.
The annual Winter Wonderland event at Humphreys Central Elementary School was a resounding success, bringing families together in a celebration of creativity, joy, and holiday spirit. It provided a perfect opportunity for the school community to come together, celebrate the season, and create lasting memories.
